The Fall Classic is here! Main-event time; for all the marbles. The game's biggest stars have reached the grandest stage. The front-runners for each league's MVP are set to clash. The globe's biggest star is set to finally breathe World Series air. Two of the biggest payrolls in baseball are set to prove value. Yankees versus Dodgers XII. Here we go, baby.
For the first time in 43 years, the two storied franchises will resume the longest reigning World Series rivalry (most WS matchups between two teams). This year's Classic literally has an abundance of storylines and tidbits that make up the plot going into the epic unravel. You see the ones I already laid out to hype the train; we are set up nicely. Let me tell ya. I mentioned the MVP favorites set to duel, that being Judge and Ohtani; it's the first time since 2012 (Tigers' Cabrera & Giants' Posey) that we get to see the eventual MVP winners duke it out for the Commissioner's Trophy. We also get the top seed versus the top seed for the first time since the COVID season in 2020, and the first time in a full-season in eleven years. A clash between the teams with the best record in each league has happened just 13 times in the Divisional Era (since 1969).
With both the MVP & top seed plot points, it's the first Classic to have both points since Thurman Munson's 1-seeded Yankees took on Joe Morgan's 1-seeded Reds for the World title in 1976. That's pretty damn cool. This time around; it's the two best hitters on the planet set to clash for all the marbles. Can't ask for anything better, despite the teams being the bloody Yankees & Dodgers. This Classic has it all. Star-power. Bankrolls. Degenerate fans and cities. Some of the most clutch and feared hitters in the baseball world. Shit-talk. Yeah, this Classic is going to bring utter noise.
The 12th installment. From Jackie Robinson stealing home, to Sandy Koufax throwing 15 Ks, and to Reggie Jackson's Mr. October clarifying 3-HR game- this storied showdown has brought epic-epic moments that are enshrined in Cooperstown, despite it being favored strongly to the Yankees at 8-3. This installment should only bring more epic moments. Yankees look for number 28, and it's first title since 2009; while the Dodgers are in search for title number 8, to tie the Giants for the 5th most in World Series history. Yankees' Murderers Row 2.0 look to humble the Dodgers pitching staff after doing the deed to Cleveland's staff in a tightly contested series in the ALCS (based off game scores). Aaron Judge looks to feed off the energy of Juan Soto in quest of his first ring. Soto was stellar in 2019 to help push the Nationals to a World Series, and was electric against the Guardians as he sent the Yankees to the Classic in legendary fashion:

A silencer for the ages. Juan Soto proves he is built for October and looks to add more thrills in the finale. Murderers Rows 2.0 against the best player on the planet, and his fierce army of stars. Last time we saw Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto on a grand stage in baseball together, the cats looked unbeatable to cruise to valor in the WBC. Those two are going to bring it in The Classic; I already know it. The unicorn, especially. Ohtani has been stellar thus far in the postseason; he is lights out at the plate with runners on, or with runners in scoring position. I expect him to reach even higher levels on the grandest stage. Mix in Mookie, red-hot Kiké, and red-hot Tommy Edman- we have star on star warfare on both ends, plus two solid pitching staffs. Something will have to give. Who will take the moment?
The action starts Friday with Gerrit Cole and Jack Flaherty slated to take the opening nods. Each game has an eight o'clock eastern start time (lucky West Coast). Look, most don't like the Yankees or Dodgers; nor should they. I never want the Yankees in The Classic... they have 27 titles for pete sake, but these two squads are the very best going at it. Best overall teams, with the best stars in the game. Bitch all you want; I will be sitting back takin' in the noise, and I am willing to bet that MLB/FOX breaks any previous viewer record. Asia is about to be turning up early in the morning to watch Ohtani & Yamamoto. All eyes are watching. Two more sleeps and the gates are open. Two more sleeps and the Fall Classic reaches it's main-event. Lets go! Get pumped:
