Boom! In a quick turn, James Harden is dealt in a monstrous 4 team trade to send shockwaves amongst the NBA universe. What in the actual hell is going on in Houston. Harden all of a sudden has enough, puts on a quick 25, bails on practice & hits da clubs just so he can be hated to the point to force a trade... which in my opinion was a TERRIBLE trade. Cavaliers and Pacers made some profit to make the trade at least a bit better. Check the full deets.
Before we talk the trade, I need to expose Harden. Rockets get CP3 to pair with Harden, yes Paul is in the latter part of his career but he is still a All-Star caliber Point God. That didn't work. So thanks to Dame's Wave, the Rockets break the league and deal CP3 to OKC for Russell Westbrook. Blockbuster. The two reunite both still in their prime. H-Town was all sorts of pumped, poised to finally reach the top of the laborious Western Conference mountain.
As I expected, the magic duo failed to reach the top of that mountain. They got bullied out by the Lakers. Suddenly after one season, Westbrook no longer wished to play in Houston and with Harden. Only one year it took, and they sent him to D.C. for John Wall. Russ stated that he hated the laid-back environment in Houston and how some players (reports soon pointed at Harden again) got special treatment like not having consequences for missing practices.
The trade in hindsight was good for Houston. Westbrook wanted out immediately and they still got a All-Star caliber player who like Russ, wanted out and a chance to prove his value. Bringing in Wall pairs him with his former college boy, Boogie Cousins. They bring in Christian Wood who has taken the league by storm both last season and the beginning of this season. They make a solid lineup despite just losing Daryl Morey. After all that went down, after forcing Russ out, it wasn't enough I guess for Harden. He took a vacay to the club, missed practices & then after a game had a bizarre interview saying he has done everything for the city and doesn't think him wanting to stay could be fixed. Very shitty interview coming from a guy who rarely communicated with his new teammates. It got ugly QUICK. Cousins & Wall responded causing a tremendous amount of tension in the locker room. The next day the front office asked Harden not to come to the facility to avoid any conflict between he and his teammates. By mid to late afternoon the trade hits NBA headquarters. His time in Houston is officially over.
You saw the details. Brooklyn just sent basically the team's entire future draft picks and some very talented young players to team a 31 year old Harden with Kyrie Irving (who is MIA) & Kevin Durant. A new "Super Trio". The Cavs and Pacers both slime in and get some players that they feel better suit their respected squads. That I'm ok with. I think Oladipo is a stud but LeVert can shine with the Pacers just as bright as Oladipo. They must feel it suits them better, not bad. Cavs get Prince and Allen to give a boost to that roster and only lose Exum? Sneaky good. Allen is a sneaky good player. But Brooklyn! Man oh man.
I think the Rockets are in better shape. You can call me a Harden hater all you want but I might just be right. Look at what they got. For a THIRTY ONE year old! Who hasn't won them anything in the 8 years of service. He puts on some weight, is dissin' practice & will soon regress, absolutely you take this trade. Oladipo is a stud. Getting those pieces not only is pivotal but it actually gives them a much more complete starting 5 and team. It most importantly eliminates any in-house drama that would destroy the team. Now for Brooklyn... this might be as bad as a trade for the Nets (and NBA) since they traded for a old ass Paul Pierce & Kevin Garnett. Why in the blue hell do people think any trio with Harden & Kyrie would work. Ya have lost your damn minds. I feel bad for Durant but his a** shouldn't have left Golden State then. Maybe I'm wrong and Harden will help the Nets win a title (I am not wrong). Maybe Kyrie will actually come play basketball & just maybe will Harden and Kyrie work. Who knows, right? As Chuck said, KD went from the Splash Bros to the Dribble Bros.
