Third time spoiler! Stat Padford signs his freedom papers and gives the third possible Hall of Fame career destroyed by the Lions a slight chance at winning the Big One.
The Detroit Lions traded their long time face of the franchise, Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for the Rams former #1 pick QB Jared Goff, two first rounders & a third rounder. A nice late night stunner to set off the fire works to a potential crazy off-season before the Super Bowl is even played.
How can you not be happy for Stafford? Unless maybe a selfish Calvin Johnson or a selfish Barry Sanders. 12 years of grit, blood & hard work all but of a waste thanks to the good ole Fords. Those around the NFL and even confused little cat fans are blinded around this wall of losing by the Lions that they don't fully understand how incredible Stafford was. People actually have it in their heads that he isn’t elite because of the jersey on his back. Thinking he is like a Jon Kitna or some sh**. It’s criminal. The fact his legacy is somewhat tarnished is one of the league's greatest shames. But thankfully, he gets a chance to prove the doubters wrong. Landing in LA, giving them their missing piece. Mark my words. You thought Brady’s legacy mission after leaving Bill was something? Next season, Stat Padford is ready to conquer a mission of his own.
Stafford owns every passing record for the Lions and I don't need to fact check that. Stafford is T-7 all-time in 4th Quarter comeback wins & was the youngest slinger to throw for 30,000 career passing yards. Stafford was a yard king, one of eleven players to throw for 5,000 yards in a season. He was the game's most dominant deep ball thrower in his time with Detroit. He has also been consistent as a elite play action QB.
But apparently none of this matters because of his record of 74-90-1, right? Wrong! Detroit failed Matthew Stafford in the same disgusting fashion they failed Barry and Megatron.
Unlike Sanders and Johnson, Stafford has been awarded his freedom papers and a opportunity while still elite (despite a blind fool) to win a Super Bowl. The Rams and Stafford should be an extraordinary pairing. Stafford immediately gains the leader keys to a team just off a Super Bowl appearance with a dominant defense, many offensive weapons and a great minded coach eager to have a elite QB. Stafford offers a lot to McVay & Stafford’s incredible play in the clutch is something the Rams desperately need & gives a dominant defense a major, major stress relief.
It is going to be exciting to see Stafford prove he is a Hall of Famer and its nice to give him a real crack at a ring. He gave Detroit his all and then some and they continued to sh** on his career through a awful front office but at least they sent him free. Unlike Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson. Oh and Lions fans do NOT deserve Stafford, at least most the ones I have met!
Here is to the great Stat Padford
