If you already grabbed your reading glasses, get back up real quick and grab a fire extinguisher as well, because I have SMOKE for several on this piece. The english word "nasty" seems to have been altered these days to describe good or bad. I am one who tends to use it away from it's true definition. Rather it's for the bad (true definition) like seeing someone do something nasty or behave nasty; or the good like a nasty dime or a nasty deke on the ice. So I will use the term nasty to describe WK-14 on the gridiron. It was NASTY-NASTY.
We had some good moments, but FAR more bad moments across the WK-14 action. I'm talking about a 3-0 game finish; most the top playoff contenders completely sh***in the bed; and a disgraceful and pure NASTY lack of sportsmanship by the league's poster child.
Never have I seen a team captain in the Big-4 throw the type of tantrum on live TV that Patrick Mahomes threw after the Sunday loss to the Bills. This league and generation is polluted by insecure divas who create an outburst when things don't go their way; I never thought Patrick Mahomes would take the top of the list, but here we are. Chiefs have the millennial princess in the press box, and the millennial king on the field. How fitting.
Mahomes threw a tantrum on the sideline, getting pressed towards the refs that was noticeably caught on camera. Considering the heat of the moment, that outburst wasn't nothing crazy, emotions are emotions, but it wasn't the end of his tantrum. Mahomes multiplied his tantrum to a far more embarrassing and disrespectful degree:

What an utter disgrace for him to behave that way; in that moment. Pure disrespect to Josh Allen, the NFL, and his hard work. What a coward. A person can show emotion, but there is a time and a place. Anyone who is a respected employee, a mature adult, or a respected PERSON knows that boundary. Mahomes sure has hell knew that boundary, to bad his behavior didn't speak to his head first. The locker-rooms are a sanctuary and an environment for players to spew those type of emotions out- a reason why media and cameras aren't allowed. For him to do it during the handshake line infront of the entire media, while being the face of the league should result in a HEFTY fine. He needs to publicly apologize to Josh Allen as well, that was bullsh**, especially with how respectful Josh Allen has been in that moment... in even grander fashion (playoffs).
Mahomes is torn up over a 4th & 13 play that should have never even took place:

The rule book is clear as day, the issue is NFL officials; players; and football analysts can't find the brain power to understand the rule book. For the officials, they have no idea how to apply the rule book in a consistent matter. First and foremost, Kardarius Toney is offsides in the neutral zone and must be penalized:
Andy Reid and others want to gripe that the line judge failed at confirming with Toney that he was offsides... which in turn is their job to do so. Even so, that isn't enough to want the flag to be overturned, I mean cmon! These players are professionals being payed millions, Toney needs to have the awareness to know how to perform his job; he is staring right at the damn ball and LOS for pete sake. That's not a fault on the official; the only fault is the officials allowed this play to even play out.
Peyton Manning said he wants the rule adjusted to automatically call the play dead if an offensive player is lined up in the neutral zone, but they already have a branch of the rule that SPECIFICALLY states that the ball MUST be called dead under two-minutes left in a half or OT. There already is a rule for this instance. Sure, I am with Peyton in wanting to apply that rule to any point of the game, but in this instance the rulebook states that play should never play out. Even Manning wasn't aware on this? The officials sure aren't. That's the only gripe Reid and the Chiefs have, they should have had a 4th and 17. None of that gives Mahomes the right to act how he did, especially when he doesn't even know the rule book. The fact of the matter is, the Chiefs never should have put themselves in that position. You can't blame the refs, you put yourselves in that position. Stop blaming others for your loss. That goes to all 32 teams. There is 4 quarters of football; should have never even put your backs against the wall on a 4th and 13. Look at the mistakes from the game; move on and adjust- the only behavior that should have been displayed.
Remember LeBron James' little tantrum of hitting the floor and throwing his body in the air that went viral on X? Mahomes went x10. I don't exaggerate when I say Patrick's behavior was the most embarrassing thing I have seen from a leader in the NFL; at least Antonio Brown was off his meds. Lost a good deal of respect for him, but it alllllll makes sense. Most people know what I mean by that. I am getting tired of this though, the NFL really is in Gen Diva.
Gen-Diva is in full swing and has been for some years now. The game is being polluted by ultra talented individuals who would rather whine; cry; complain; and take the easy way. It's quite pathetic and we seem to have the higher trend be skill-players; more so wide-receivers.
Guys like Stefon Diggs; DK Metcalf; and AJ Brown are the ones who lead the way for Gen-Diva. They're the spokes-people, ha. It's hilarious to see the size of human of AJ Brown and DK Metcalf and then see them cry after losing or after being in a physical one on one with a stud cornerback. Metcalf is arguably one of the biggest sore-losers in the league; he and Mahomes should go grab dinner. The dude is unbearable to watch lose, reminds me of OBJ when Josh Norman haunted him. Whenever Metcalf has a game with less than 100 yards or the team is losing he becomes overly physical; dirty; and throws tantrums like this:
video via Mr Matthews CFB//X
When Metcalf gets locked up or doesn't get targeted, all of a sudden he is grabbing someone's facemask or costing the team in penalty yards. It's quite hysterical, and AJ Brown does similiar crap. If Brown isn't targeted 20 times a game he cries, and slams his feet to the ground. I couldn't imagine being Jordan Ta'amu at Ole Miss and trying to keep those two happy. Brown can be a fierce competitor, but he plays with far too much emotion. Just like Metcalf. When you play with too much emotion or can't stop running your mouth, you allow a real dog to take your confidence and head out of the game. Ask Michael Crabtree what I mean by that. Brown got that in full dose with his matchup with Stephon Gilmore on SNF. He called Gilly old and got to running his mouth, Gilly told him wassup with it and so did the Cowboys on the scoreboard. This era of football players is wild to me. A great deal of them refuse to accept hard times; always want the easy route; and would rather demand than earn. It can be tough to watch, Mahomes' was the tip of the iceberg this season. These cats today are like Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco) and Terrell Owens on Compound V. Man do I miss Steve Smith Sr. and Randy Moss.
It was an awful week for squads in the top 8 of the league standings. The Cowboys; Ravens; and 49ers are the only squads of the eight to win games with the Eagles; Dolphins; Jags; Lions; and Chiefs ALL losing. Eagles got slaughtered for consecutive weeks; the Dolphins blew a 4th quarter lead in nasty fashion; and the Lions got worked by the Bears. The Eagles and Lions players talk the talk but don't always walk the walk. They have a lot of false confidence and the same can be said for the Dolphins; Chiefs; and Jaguars.
The pure inconsistency amongst the playoff contenders this deep into the season sets up the playoffs to be a wild-wild ride in terms of predicting the matchups. I just fear what the comp' will play out to be. With the fall of the Eagles in back-to-back weeks; the lackluster NFC South; and the rocky Lions- the Cowboys and 49ers seem like the only two to fear in the NFC. The AFC holds no fear as of today; not when you have Mahomes and the Chiefs crying as well as the Jaguars and Dolphins falling on their heads. The teams in the Wild Card race also got to slackin' in WK-14.
There is now a 6-way tie for the second and third AFC Wild Card spots. All are deadlocked at 7-6 & four of the six teams lost in WK-14. Texans and Colts got tuned up with Houston having CJ Stroud in the concussion protocol. Not the best of weeks but for fans, the inconsistent play from contenders makes the playoff race extra spicy as we roll into WK-15. Can you imagine if the Chiefs; Browns; and Jaguars all lose this week? The pot would start leakin'. The NFC is the same song, same dance. Well that's not true, it's far louder. We got nine teams in the hunt with the Vikings a game up of the other eight for spot two; 6 teams deadlocked at 6-7 for spot 3; and the Bears and Giants somehow in the mix at 5-8. A handful of them lost in WK-14. This thing can't get any more spicy. If the top contenders keep sh****n the bed then this playoff hunt will explode.
We have 9 matchups this week between playoff hunters with the Bills/Cowboys and Ravens/Jaguars givin' off the most shine on the spotlight. With what little time remains, it's bafflin' to see teams spend so much of their time in sh****n their beds. The time is now! Teams are going to have to show who wants it more. It's time to find out.
Power Rankings:
Previous game: W 28-16 vs SEA
Streak: W5
The train keeps rollin'. 49ers now build their win streak to 5 in a row to match their longest of the campaign. They have what should be an easy game against the Cards next before runnin' up a fist fight with the mighty Ravens. San Fran is reigning supreme; as those under them continue to decline as they rise.
Next game: Sunday @ ARI (4:05 pm)
Previous game: W 33-13 vs PHI
Streak: W5
The 'Boys are feelin' bright! Dallas dismantled their rival Eagles to move into the second seed in the NFC and a tie atop the NFC East. Dak Prescott is now 7-1 at home versus the Eagles. Cowboys match the 49ers for the longest current win streak as they are set to run a fierce gauntlet versus the Bills; Dolphins; and Lions.
Next game: Sunday @ BUF (4:25 pm)
Previous game: W 37-31 vs LAR (OT)
Streak: W3
Ravens escaped a scare against the Rams to move their win streak to 3 in a row to now solely hold the AFC's one seed. They are now the hunted; with an extra fierce gauntlet of opps waiting in the winds. Ravens' playoffs start now if they want home-field advantage. Win-Out is the only thing on their to-do list.
Next game: Sunday @ JAX (8:20 pm)
Previous game: L 13-28 @ CHI
Streak: L1
Lions dropped a real tough one versus the Bears that hurts their confidence wave, but they still have a leg in the race for the NFC one seed with a bout against the Cowboys on the schedj being down just one game from the top spot thanks to the Eagles' back-to-back losses. First up is the Broncos on a Saturday Special, lets see how bad the Lions want it.
Next game: Saturday vs DEN (8:15 pm)
Previous game: L 13-33 @ DAL
Streak: L2
Eagles have now been smoked in consecutive games that is topped off by a smackin' from their arch rival Cowboys. They would drop more if the teams under them weren't ridin' the same slopes. Philly is still in a tie for the NFC East and could still have a chance for the one seed if all turns around for them. First they need to get back to winning... and STAT. They need to travel to Seattle and beat the Seahawks for the first time since 2008 (SEA 7 in a row) in order to start their turnaround.
Next game: Monday @ SEA (8:15 pm)
Previous game: L 17-20 vs BUF
Streak: L2
Defending champs have now lost three of four including a heartbreaker versus the Bills last week. KC isn't fully out of the race for the AFC's one seed if they win out with how tough the schedj is for the Ravens and Dolphins. Big thing in that sentence: IF they win out. First they need to end the losing vibes.
Next game: Sunday @ NE (1:00 pm)
Previous game: W 20-17 @ KC
Streak: W1
Bills climb into the top ten of the rankings after winnin' a massive game against the Chiefs to keep their playoff hopes alive going into their fight against the Cowboys this week. The Chiefs dub was HUGE for Buffalo, who had lost 3 of their last 4 going into the game. They now have a good chance at one of the final two AFC Wild Card spots, but still have the Cowboys and Dolphins left on the schedj. Win-Out is written large and bright on their white board, the win over KC should give them some solid confidence going into Sunday against the 'Boys.
Next game: Sunday vs DAL (4:25 pm)
Previous game: L 27-28 vs TEN
Streak: L1
The Fins' collapse on MNF against the Titans was a brutal hit to their deep season stride. Dolphins went up 27-12 with 4 and half minutes left in reg' and blew the game to Will Levis and the Titans. Not what they needed as they prepare for a playoff run. Miami starts the toughest stretch of their season, lets see how much the MNF loss will effect their confidence.
Next game: Sunday vs NYJ (1:00 pm)
Previous game: L 27-31 @ CLE
Streak: L2
Jags stick around in the top ten, but they have seams breakin' at the core. Jaguars have now lost two in a row and 3 of their last 5. The defense has been exposed in recent games; mostly the pass defense. Teams are shreddin' Jacksonville in the air, something they have to work on with the playoffs looming. The main mission is to stop losing. Colts and Texans are now both only a game back of the Jaguars atop the AFC South. They look to avoid having an infamous season collapse. Won't be easy as they have a primetime fist fight with the Ravens next.
Next game: Sunday vs BAL (8:20 pm)
Previous game: W 31-27 vs JAX
Streak: W1
Joe Flacco, baby! The vet helped lead the Dawg Pound over the Jagaurs for a MASSIVE dub to keep their playoff hopes alive and strong. Cleveland finds their way back into the top ten; they now have wins over the Ravens; 49ers; and the Jaguars. Browns look in good shape sittin' at 8-5 with a light comp' left on the schedj. Hungry... but light in full sense. It's nasty they won't pay Joe Flacco, hopefully that doesn't create some bad karma to come back around. The ball is in their hands to make the playoffs.
Next game: Sunday vs CHI (1:00 pm)
