Hail To The Victors

Michigan wins NCAAF CFP National Championship

Hail to the victors! One of the most prestigious programs in college sports history and the winningest football program have ended their championship drought. University of Michigan are the 2023-24 CFP National Champions!

The mighty Wolverines unleashed a 4-quarter beatdown of the Washington Huskies to get over a 26-year hump and a 78-year outright hump to claim superiority atop the college football world. That's right. This is Michigan's first undisputed National Championship since 1948. Jim Harbaugh has accomplished something that the great Bo Schembechler and great Lloyd Carr (shared with Nebraska... yuck) couldn't accomplish. He has led the Wolverines to an undisputed natty. You gotta date all the way back to Bennie Oosterbaan's first season for Michigan's last undisputed National Championship... 78 freakin years! Jim Harbaugh delivered one of, if not, THE greatest win in the history of the program. Through all the obstacles, scandal, negative attention, and pure jealousy... the Wolverines refused to be die. Refused to tap out. Now, they wake up every sunny day as National Champions. Eat on that NCAA.

"Michigan vs. Everybody". What a story, and with a perfect ending. Although, the title game sure could have been closer and more electric. Michigan came out of the gates on another level from that of the Huskies as they controlled Washington for the entirety of the game, never facing a deficit. Hard nosed defense with a punishing rushing attack, the Wolverines delivered a masterclass on the gridiron while their coaching staff delivered a masterclass on the sidelines under the headsets. It was another flawless coaching display by the UofM staff, who had the players prepped and pumped for any war, any opponent, on that night. For Harbaugh, he shows that display in the big game, to finally end his quest for a natty. The defense was lights out and the rushing... the rushing! Michigan ran for 303 yards on the ground, makin' up 68% of their total yardage count. I knew it was over after the second Donovan Edwards tuddy:

Washington only ran for 46 yards on 20 attempts. They only passed for 255 yards... UofM was that damn good. Heisman runner-up Michael Penix Jr. must have felt like he was playin' against the '01 Hurricanes. Michigan annihilated the Huskies O-line as they battle and bruised a gritty Penix Jr. all game long. I'm talkin' BATTLED AND BRUISED. Penix Jr. was in literal hell all game against the Wolverines defense. Constantly on his back. Constantly hit-sticked and crushed by full speed monsters. It was tough to watch as he took damage down low and visibly took damage in the abdomen and ribs. I must give the cat some major creds: he's a damn warrior. The fact he not only played the whole game, but walked off of it with no assistance is truly noble:

That's some real warrior type behavior. The purest athletes are those who act and look noble in victory AND defeat. MPJ is a pure-blooded athlete. Listen to his classy words after facing defeat and agony:

As noble as he was, and as great a season he had- there was no denying the Wolverines. A disciplined rounded roster with work ethic and pure togetherness, this team had it all. Skill wise the roster is the best in decades, but it was the overcoming of adversity that will keep them in Michigan football immortality. UofM had the NCAA investigation into alleged recruiting violations, a separate NCAA investigation into a sign-stealing scheme, and two separate three-game suspensions of Jim Harbaugh. Sprinkle on-top hate, constant media attention, and false accusations. Harbaugh opened up the season with a suspension and ended the season with the other (great timing, eh). Plagued as villains and cheaters from the jump, the Wolverines proved the haters and naysayers wrong. They are the champions, bottom line. Those who shout "cheaters" are just spittin' nonsense. Sure will people on X get to typin'? Yeah, of course they will. Media? Duh, they're scum. Ohio State fans? It's a rivalry, so what. I'll tell you who won't, though. Their opps on the gridiron, as they bow to the Wolverines' superiority. Their peers across Division-I as sign-stealing is a "practice" among damn near all 130 FBS programs including ya's lovely SEC. The history books won't either.

It's hail to the victors. Maize and Blue will reign over the rest until that CFP title is back for the takin' in next year's enhanced tournament playoff. Just in time for the Wolverines, at that. A senior led roster accomplished the grand quest in their final shot before their lives hit a new road. Michigan will lose the heart and soul of the offense with the graduation and NFL departure of Blake Corum, as well as starting QB JJ McCarthy, Roman Wilson, and they also could lose Jim Harbaugh to the NFL as he may have his eyes on his other quest again. Respect to him if he wants to take that, he has earned it. For now, the future can wait in the eyes of Michigan Nation. They have a National Championship to enjoy and then defend. At-last it's hail to the victors! Michigan is the top dawg once again.
