NBA is officially back on Tuesday the 22nd! Ahh yeah! Here is a quick breakdown on the set-up of the season, predictions & other NBA season opening hype.
OFF-Season round up
Winners:
1. Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers got busy this off-season adding a big piece to the system in Wesley Matthews (from MIL) and adding 6th Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell. LAL also congratulated and acknowledged the future buy extending King James and Anthony Davis. Outside of losing Rondo, the Lakers did nothing but get better, Schroder should be a nice addition. Harrell and Matthews instantly deepens the team and make it better as a whole. Marc Gasol should add a nice veteran attitude in the playoffs.
2. Philadelphia 76ers
Philadelphia had a incredible off-season in the bigger picture. Getting rid of Horford and the money anchored to him was huge. Doc Rivers was a great hire at head coach and the hire of Daryl Morey as GM has been good thus far (despite the Simmons for Harden nonsense). Morey has added pivotal perimeter shooting and drafted exceptionally well. Look for Tyrese Maxey to have a solid rookie campaign for Philly.
Losers:
Charlotte Hornets
Hornets took a leap of faith by drafting LaMelo Ball, who has raw talent but has made it abundantly clear through pre-season that he will need loads of coaching. That move isn't too terrible but the sign and trade for Gordon Hayward is pretty bad. They lost some quality players and minutes from last season, but did very little to replace them. The rest of their draft is pretty up in the air but doesn't look all that good. They may have just regressed more as they develop Ball with even more youth around him. Maybe Hayward returns to Jazz like form. Tough buy.
2. Detroit Pistons
The Pistons unloaded the bank account this season! Too bad it was for Mason Plumlee, Jahlil Okafor & Jerami Grant. $88M for those three! The GM completely sh** the bed in this off-season and drafting Killian Hayes doesn't do too much to hide it. Detroit seems to have a very dim light at the end of the tunnel and off-seasons like this won't help that light.
3 Best Moves:
3 Sneaky Additions
Award Predictions:
The NBA is back and even though there is very few fans and the league is still affected by the pandemic it is good to have it back. Kevin Durant returns, The Brow & King are set to defend their crown and many questions surround who will challenge for the title with faces in new places and players returning from the madness of last year. Lets go!
