Friday morning fireworks in the NFL! The top 10 selections in the upcoming NFL Draft just got a groundbreaking shake up. The 'Fins show that they are all in with Tua Tagovailoa moving forward as they send their 3rd overall draft pick to San Francisco for the 49er's 12th pick, which the Dolphins then dealt to Philadelphia. Big time noise. Dolphins go from 3 to 6, San Francisco moves to 3 and Philadelphia jumps out of the top ten and now sit at 12.
Pretty solid to great GM play (mostly) here in this whole shake up, let me start with Miami. The Dolphins decide they want to stick with Tua officially, which is the right thing to do. Sitting at pick 3 gave them a ton of leverage which they capitalized into even more draft compensation for the future. Miami has a historic amount of draft compensation in the next three drafts.
The Laremy Tunsil trade resulted in a absurd 4 first round picks, a second rounder & a third round pick... all thanks to a bong mask, incredible. The Dolphins have been real players, and put themselves in a incredible position to have a stellar future. Still a process though, lets see how the 'phins draft with all those picks.
They haven't picked well at all throughout all rounds, especially the first round in past years. Tua has some potential but besides Tua the rest from 2020 showed little upside and Christian Wilkins has struggled to stay consistent. The Dolphins have put themselves in great position for the future but it all starts with drafting well and as fit. First priority with the two first rounders in this upcoming draft is weapons and/or protection for Tua.
San Francisco trading up to number three is the most interesting of the three. Trading up points to obvious possibility of drafting a QB, with John Lynch watching Zach Wilson that move came into fruition quickly. They say they want to keep Jimmy G for the time being... that might be true but if you think the future plans include Garoppolo then you are cappin'. San Fran' is in a similar spot that Kansas City struck gold on when they had drafted Patrick Mahomes. They can draft a franchise QB and sit him for a year under a veteran in Jimmy G. If they somehow land Zach Wilson and he sits a year; he will take over the league. Wilson will have the best career of any QB in this upcoming draft. Here is one of many throws that had the scouts and media buzzin' at his Pro Day.

The question is, will the Jets take him at number 2 and spoil the gold? The picture taken of a conversation between Joe Douglas, John Lynch & Robert Saleh is of a legend and is the cover image of the NFL Draft this season. I'm not sure if Douglas and Saleh (Jets) told Lynch that they were sticking with Sam Darnold and not selecting Zach Wilson with the NO. 2 pick, or what. Lynch was definitely impressed with Wilson and probably noticed that Atlanta was droolin' too, so he called Miami on spot. Just crazy. I need more damnit, it's a itch! If Saleh/Douglas did in fact say they won't draft Wilson, just to draft him anyway and spoil the 49ers plans- I would be thoroughly impressed... that's a ultimate heel move.
The 49ers have put themselves in a great spot, depending on whatever the hell they are planning. Drafting Zach Wilson and sitting him for a year has MAJOR promise. Let's see how they play this.
Non-Bias Eagles Review:
The Eagles getting involved here was shocking, and made the GM play of Miami even more impressive. For Philadelphia, they are in a rebuild now, with a poor roster compared to most teams. Moving back put them in a position that Miami is in... they are now LOADED with draft compensation for the next two years. Most of the Eagles best & consistent players are all on their last stretch- Jason Kelce, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox and so on... so staying at 6 and assuring yourself one of the big time offensive weapons for Hurts was a big deal. It's hard to say if Pitts, Chase & Smith will drop to the 12th pick but it's highly likely they won't, but Trevor Lawrence is going number one so who the hell knows what the GMs see in the top 10.
The draft is pretty solid, depth wise, so they will still land a solid prospect (key word). The Eagles now have given themselves some light in the future as they build themselves out of the cap trench and historic downfall. Like Miami, they now have to draft well... both the Eagles and Dolphins have been terrible in that department. The trade back also assures Jalen Hurts that he is the plan moving forward.
Reports have stated that Howie Roseman had ideas and tried to pursue moving up to number 3, but only if he could land Zach Wilson. Roseman knows he wasn't getting Wilson so he opted to move back and get an extra first rounder for next season... in that sense; solid move as you build for the future and reality.
Bias Eagles Review:
Not sure what the hell Howie Roseman is thinking now a days. Roseman almost went full circle. Howie moved up in the '16 NFL Draft to select Carson Wentz as his franchise QB. Roseman gives Wentz 100+M just to draft a QB a year later and eventually trade Wentz and eat the money. Now he was planning on doing the same thing he did in 2016, move up to draft a franchise QB in Zach Wilson. I obviously rave over Wilson and think he will be a star... also think he is better than Hurts but not the point. You trade Wentz away because of some far fetched hype for a "swaggy" QB that the city all of a sudden loves and now you are going to bail on Hurts! This man is a clown. Thank God the Niners pulled the trigger first to move up. Roseman would have gone full circle in not even a 5 year span, like ouch. Instead he bailed on his fantasies and moved back in the draft, there are two sides to the trade.
First off, Eagle fans are DELUSIONAL if they think they are winning many games next year and the year after, but selecting at NO.6 assured them a sure offensive weapon between Pitts, Chase or Smith to help aid Goedert and Sanders in what is a very limited offense. Jalen Hurts needs weapons bad if they want him to turn out to what they fantasize.
With Zach Ertz likely departing here soon, not sure if a team has a worse list of offensive skill players. Jalen Hurts being a "MVP" or even a QB winning more than 4 games is far fetched with that roster. He does have a solid offensive line coming back, but two of the best three have been on the IR the past two seasons. Adding anyone of those top offensive skill prospects in this draft was ideal, but now sitting at 12 makes that difficult.
The second side is the fact the Eagles are now in a fantastic spot to build a solid team in the future. They may lose out on one of those three sitting at 12 but they now have a possible three first round picks next season. They still have to develop the draft picks remember that. Tough sides to choose but how many more games do they win NEXT season if they sit at 6 instead of 12 and draft a Kyle Pitts or DeVonta Smith. Ya feel my drift? Eagles have to look years in the future right now.
At first I was irritate over dropping down in the draft, I was pissed. My feelings have changed. Unfortunately the only thing we can do is build for the future. You draft Pitts or Smith and yes, Hurts has one more target but that prospect still has to adjust to the league, he still has to join a depleted roster with a whole new coaching staff. They are now loaded for next years draft. Roseman owes the organization and city a lot of money and caused a lot of heartache. Getting more compensation and not drafting another QB was good. The draft picks and getting some of the cap he blew, back to the line in the sand are his final acts. Fire him and bring someone in to properly turn that draft compensation to gold. None of this will matter if Howie Roseman is still around drafting for the Eagles.
As of now, the Dolphins are the biggest winner in this. They didn't want a QB so they moved down three spots for a first rounder and third rounder, bravo. Now ya have to draft well. The 49ers have completely shaken the top 5 and have many cards to play. This draft should be exciting past the number one pick, I'm pumped; let the fireworks begin.
