NFL Honors

Once again the 50 members of some "special" group including good ole bozo Troy Aikman, got together and awarded the NFL's best with the yearly awards. I will give a quick run down of the more important awards and call out CAP if need be.

Coach of the Year

No Cap! The right choice for sure. Stefanski took over a crippling led post Kitchens team and improved from 6 wins to 12 when you include their first playoff dub since 1994. Browns were middle of the pack on both sides of the ball but improved greatly from the previous season. Baker Mayfield seems to have some swagger back and is turning into more of what a #1 pick should be. Stefanski has given real light and hope for the Browns organization which is the winning x-factor for COTY in my opinion.

Comeback Player of the Year

This isn't even a discussion and has nothing to do with stats! Alex Smith is possibly comeback player of all-time. Shaun Livingston x10. Smith's life was put on the table due to a deadly virus, almost had his leg amputated & had chances of never walking again yet alone playing football. He overcame all those odds and starting another NFL game- absolutely incredible. No debate.

Rookie Awards

What utter bullsh**! I can see the Rookie of the Year being a tight decision between Herbert and Justin Jefferson, but 41-9 is f'n crazy. Giving Herbert both the Rookie of the Year and Offense Rookie of the Year is also major bullsh**. Jefferson has got to have one of those.

Voting 41-9 is big league cap. You know damn well Aikman voted Herbert. Justin Jefferson caught 88 passes for 1,400 yards and 7 toudys. He broke Randy Moss's all-time rookie records for yards and receptions & broke the NFL record for receiving yards. The dude was on another level. With 60 catches or more, Jefferson was second behind DJ Moore with an average yards per catch of 15.9... as a rook! He is awarded with no love just a pro bowl, that's it.

Check the stats. Not sure how Jefferson doesn't win, at least Offensive Rookie of the Year. Can you look over the stats and tell me out of 50 you say Herbert 41? Cmon.

Before writing this piece, I was hellbent that Antoine Winfield Jr. should have won the Defensive Rookie of the Year over Chase Young and even though Jeremy Chinn could have won it over him. I may have been just a little to dazed from the greatness of his peace sign to clinch the Bowl & World Title holding, parade cellyin' masterfulness. I know have agreed for a change with this award decision.

Young's relentless motor, intensity & love for competition had helped bolster a no name Washington team to a team with a heat wave of hype. Young made big plays on defense, his four forced fumbled were tied for third most in the NFL & seemed to also get in the backfield quickly to push the defense back. I love his game & his acceleration off the line. Young's speed as a defensive end is just unfair. Well deserved and he has quite the future ahead.

No brainer! All hail the damn king. King 2K. Derrick Henry was unstoppable this season and ran over everyone. It was unfortunate how he went out, getting shut down by the Ravens in the playoffs. Does not take away his incredible season, the numbers speak for them self.

All you TJ Watt fans can go back in the corner and cry, including JJ Watt. Aaron Donald is a interior lineman,,, end of debate.

As painful as it is to say... No Cap. They got it right. Look, time and time again Aaron Rodgers has proved to be just a little baby and quite frankly a **ckboy. He whined like a little boy after once again, another playoff loss. Playoff loss, per usual. Rodgers in the regular season put up crazy good and persistent stats while leading the best NFC team and second best overall team. So he is MVP. But Brady had him hurting on the sideline in Lambeau so that's my take back.
