Todos Saludan Al Campeón

OLIVES! Todos Saludan Al Campeón! Todos Saludan Al Campeón! All hail the new f'n champ baby! Brazil stand up, cha boy is certified CHAMP. Do Bronx has shut the door on the doubters, the non-believers, and all the critics. His climb to the top of the mountain is that of myth. From the Favela to the Lightweight crown. 28 fights later and after starting 10-8 in the UFC, almost being cut, Charles Oliveira caps off a 9 fight win streak to capture UFC gold and cement his legacy and heroism in South America.

What a damn match the main-event of UFC 262 was, what a damn match. Chandler versus Oliveira brought all the NOISE. The match itself was the perfect comparison to Oliveira's rise to gold as you can write. Chandler brought the same tenacity, power, and drowning offense he brought to Hooker in his debut. Charles' chin stood up to the first onslaught by Iron Michael, but then Chandler brought him deeper in the water with a tight; TIGHT guillotine! I thought Charles was forsho done. I thought he was done when Chandler dropped him on the fence too. Chandler put down some thunderous GnP, the same ground and pound he used to quickly finish Hooker. But Big Dan; Big Dan with the stellar officiating job allowed Olives to quickly jump to his back and recover enough to keep Chandler from finishing him. Check out the electric flurry that was put on by Chandler and watch Charles once again conquer the toughest of barriers:

Dan Miragliotta calculated the situation perfectly and allowed Olives to remain in the bout were he slowly settled things down in the trenches. Which brings me to my most serious question from this bit and the PPV in whole, and it's for Michael Chandler. Why in the blue hell would you voluntarily jump into Charles' guard? Why the hell, after almost sleeping Oliveira on the feet, why would you challenge the greatest submission artist in UFC's history... why? You idiotic wanker... you clown! I found my clown of the month ladies and gents. Chandler allowed Charles back in the fight, and that was the absolute worst thing he has done. Charles is a man on a mission, and if you don't put him down... he will conquer. Chandler couldn't finish Do Bronx... he put him in the deepest waters but could not finish him. Charles worked Chandler to the sound of the bell, putting the energy in the room at an all-time high with everyone in Houston on their feet and the spectators at home entertained as they wonder how Do Bronx continues and continues to survive each obstacle that has been thrown his way.

Despite the survival and tempered flow at the end of the round, most I believe would say they were still expecting Chandler's power to be the bout deciding game-changer, unless Chandler would continue his idiotcracy and try to grapple with Do Bronx. As If it mattered. Charles flipped a switch and delivered a devastating onslaught to Chandler, dropping him on the fence; which is all Do Bronx needed. Charles powered down a flush combo which was all Big Dan needed to see as he properly awarded Do Bronx with a successful conquer as he completed his quest for gold. Check out the thrilling start of the second round that created a hero for Brazil to cherish for eternity:

I completely lost my wits along with; I'm sure all of South America. No one would have predicted that thunderous knockout right as the second round began. It was thrilling, monumental, and straight up f'n awesome. Nothing is topping MMA right now, sorry not sorry. It's because of moments like we witnessed above and at UFC 262. It's moments that are being cemented for decades of runbacks and it's moments that create legends. Charles "Do Bronx" Oliveira became a legend in Brazil the moment he was certified champ' & he became a legend with his infamous celly and emotions. It was a moment I'll remember for along time. The emotions & love for sport. You could see all of Charles' handwork, barriers, and journey be displayed through the emotions he showed as he became certified champion. From the Favela to champion of the world. Sports. It's a f'n beautiful thing... watch for yourself:

Hands down one of the greatest celebrations in history and one of the greatest overall moments. Sports has to have emotions. Sports has to have heart. Those two things are pivotal aspects of what makes sports so damn awesome. Charles Oliveira showed those aspects and more at UFC 262 as he thrilled the audience and world watching. A quick shoutout to Michael Chandler for his kickass character, sportsmanship & thrill in the Octagon. He electrified us as he went to war with a man who knew more of what to expect from Michael compared to a stunned Dan Hooker. Chandler will be back in the hunt and title picture in his next few fights. He's a badass and has proved to be worth most the hype. I try to hate on him but he continues to do nothing but show class and true competitiveness. I dig his fight-style and humbleness. Class act he is and can't wait for his next fight now that he has faced the real UFC thunder and spotlight (no Hangman shade, he was stunned). Back to the new champ. What a celly. Showing the greatness of sports. Oliveira takes Drake's "Started from the Bottom" and makes it a damn reality. 10-8 in the UFC before he started this legendary, and golden hot run. Damn near on the verge of being cut and forgotten about. Then something changes inside, something changes in the man's soul that creates a newfound will to seek greatness. A will that formed a champion. He is a different competitor since his last defeat to Paul Felder in '17. Charles is a different man since that sleep. 9 wins in a row... 6 by submission which has given him the crown of all-time submission king with 14 in the UFC. Oliveira's previous loses are against some of the most elite fighter's in promotion history. Charles failed to keep composure in the most difficult of situations against that elite competition and he suffered with cutting and making weight. The fighter and man we have seen on this hot streak is someone completely different & now he is someone who is champion of the world. What a damn journey. Oliveira's last three fights on the quest have been special has he finished elite comp' in Kevin Lee, Tony Ferguson, and now Michael Chandler. Charles didn't finish El Cucuy but he beat and dominated the hell out of him so I count it as a finish being a hardcore Fergy fan that I am. Oliveira has been a workhorse for the UFC as he ranks top ten in fights and wins. His legacy shines more as he has the second most bonuses (17), and ranks first all-time with 17 finishes and previously mentioned; first all-time with 14 submission dubs. Now he has the only accolade or achievement that matters to him... a UFC title.

Oliveria's homeland gave him a well deserved hero's welcome after his incredible professional turnaround. They showed love, praise, & gratitude to a man who, like very few, found his way through the slew of the Favela and all the obstacles, to become an inspired and hard working hero who does nothing but give.

Do Bronx worked so hard to earn the opportunity to fight and achieve UFC gold & he has by the grace of his character, earned the right to be loved and praised by fans across his entire home country. Seeing countries parade around, praise, and celebrate their beloved athletes for the athlete's life achievements is another prime thing that makes sports and competition so damn awesome. I mean sports are AWESOME! Seeing Brazil throw a parade for the new Lightweight champ's welcome home extravaganza is what makes us so invested and taken by the greatness that is sports. Put it in my veins:

What a journey to the top with an even better celebration. Shoutout to Do Bronx, Brazil, and to sports. Coming in clutch with the feels. We are now moved forward in the lightweight division. We shall give the champ some relaxation and time to tour the homeland with his gold as we prepare for McGregor v Poirier III & the announcement of the champ's first title defense. Congrats Charles... you deserve it brotha. Enjoy this absolute gold to finish the article... sorry Michael Chandler.
