Welp, we have our weekly idiot and it's Mr. Tim Peel who has quite the background of doing idiotic sh**. The NHL announced today that Tim Peel will no longer be officiating games after his remarks caught hot for everyone to hear (I love those). For Peel, what goes around comes around brotha.

Peel wasn't fired for spittin' the f bomb, he was obviously fired for embarrassing the NHL as more people understood the whole "makeup call"/penalty management... that unfortunately has been going on for a long, long time peeps. Many people throughout the pro hockey world has mentioned "make-up" calls and have had many opinions on the officiating over the years, even a former official has interviewed and came out saying he would do make-up calls but referenced it to game management. Not sure if the firing happened because of the bad image it gave the league or if the league won't allow that kind of officiating, either way- c'mon Tim Peel, ya clown.
It is a terrible look for the NHL to have one of it's officials speak out loud his desire to give one team a penalty, no matter the context. Gotta remember the whole legalized gambling on the horizon... not good, not good at all & its now a problem that will have continued focus going forward amongst the spectators and media.
Look, the terms "game management" & "make-up calls" being thrown around interchangeably is quite a joke; they are not the same thing. Game management is a referee strategy and that is a fact but that needs to be around communication and keeping everything controlled not forcing the issue to keep penalty calls even, or close to it, no matter the transgression. Make up calls are when a official is focusing on just one team and is ok with calling a nonsensical call to keep the overall power play splits even. Game management is ok but make up call is not, and will now create a huge issue for the league with sports betting now launching. I'm glad the NHL got rid with Peel, here are some of the thoughts from players and coaches around the league:
